For this Christmas I bought a port wine, that was delicious, a 10 years bottle.

It was very fullbodied, didn’t even tasted like wine.

So with the leftovers of the bottle I started to mix some cocktails, the first attempt was something similar to a Sidecar:

  • 2oz Port wine – Tawny
  • 1oz Curaçao
  • ½oz Lemon juice

Shake and strain into cocktail glass. Lemon twist.

And then I searched Difford’s Guide for more recipes:

  • 1½oz Bourbon
  • ¾oz  Brandy
  • ¾oz Port wine – Tawny
  • 1ds Aromatic Bitters
  • 1ds Orange Bitters

It’s a riff on the Old-Fashioned. Garnish with Orange twist

Port Cobbler

  • 2½oz Port wine – Tawny
  • 1½oz Brandy
  • 1oz Curaçao

Shake and strain into an wine glass filled with crushed ice, garnish with fruits/berries/mint…

Port Cooler

  • 3oz Port wine – Tawny
  • 1oz lime juice
  • 1oz grapefruit juice
  • 2oz club soda

Shake, strain, top.

I nice use for my christmas leftovers!
